JPMorgan Chase Credit card department,
To Whom It May Concern, My name is - -. I currently have a - Chase credit card ( " the credit card '' ). During this time frame I have used the credit card for many large purchases including travel. I 've always enjoyed the customer service and the card itself. However, in the last few months, with a - baby born in -/-/-, my wife and I decided to start attempting to pay down all of our outstanding debts. We saved for 5 months in order to accumulate the appropriate amount of money to pay off the credit card as a lump payment. I received my -/-/- statement on the - and a payment due date of -/-/-. On -/-/-, I issued a payment of over $4000.00 to pay and eradicate this fairly large credit card bill. At the time of payment I went through the online payment system as
Then, my wife randomly checked the - account to see our points total, and she noted a balance of $49.00 for interest charges. I called and spoke with a customer service representative and a supervisor however, neither of them had an answer to my question and concern. I 'm extremely dissatisfied with that fact that when I paid a large payment of over $4000.00 there was no message or information that would indicate to me that additional charges would possible to be incurred to me within the next month due to unaccrued interest. I feel that the absence of such information on their website when making such a large payment is extremely misleading. As the system should be able to flag that the account is being paid off and a message would be made available that would indicate the aforementioned information. The website is extremely misleading and I truly feel it is unfair that I 'm now forced to pay an additional $49.00 when I thought I paid off my entire balance. I truly feel that by not giving a customer a complete or total balance to be paid off is misleading and unfair. Even their supervisor mentioned that had I even called to make my payment they would not be made aware of the total interest charges I would be charged. So had my wife and I not checked the account for our points balance, and maybe not looked at the next statement because we figured we paid off the account, I would then be on hook for not only the $49.00 but the late charge fees plus additional interest charges again. I would greatly appreciate any information someone could provide as to how this is going to be settled and or what the resolution would be for not only my self but every one of their customers. Please feel free to call me at anytime during normal working hours EST, -, or email me at --. I thank you in advance for all of your assistant and information. Regards, - -
