Vehicle loan Problems when you are unable to pay Texas

Yes we my wife bought a car and in order for her to get the car I had to sign in on the note as well. Right now we are separated and have been for a year she got a rent house to stay along with my son and I 'm paying child support as state order we both had jobs that downsized which changed our income tremendously and I 'm staying with my sister and husband. Now I 'm trying to get a place for myself to live but GMAC has a suit on me and I was denied a place to live because of it with no idea of the suit.My name is - - -, - ... - - - - -, Texas - ... - ... ssn -. But the return on the automobile was vouluntarily on my wife part because she got a better car for the prices and it was stated to her to do that..my its affecting everything I want to do..it just killing me to get ahead here.
