I opened an account with M & T Bank last month, seeing the promotion for a $150.00 cash bonus which attracted me to the bank. Late last month, I made a direct deposit, qualifying me for the $150.00 bonus, which was revoked on -/-/- ( yesterday ). After numerous messages to the bank on their website, I have yet to receive a response. Now, later today they completely closed my account with no warning. I called them and was on the phone for an hour speaking to a supervisor whom was advised not to tell me information about MY account. An identity verification was done via fax as requested a couple days earlier. I 'm forced to step into a branch that is n't local to me, which is a huge inconvenience. For an institution that 's supposed to be trusted with holding my money then closing it with FUNDS LEFT IN THE ACCOUNT, I 'm baffled. I demand a reasonable explanation.
