First Hawaiian Bank Bank account or service department,
Checking account Deposits and withdrawals Hawaii
I have had a pending issue with First Hawaiian Bank, regarding a scam that took place. In the previous complaint i filed it goes into more detail. I was given a fraudulent check in which i deposited $2600.00 into the bank. The next day, even though the check had n't been cleared, i was allowed to withdraw half of the money. First Hawaiian Banks policies state that until the check has cleared, only $200.00 would become available to me next day. Yet, I was able to withdraw more than stated amount. This is an excerpt from First Hawaiian Banks website on their policies for depositing checks. Q : What does it mean if I receive a hold on my account after I have made a deposit? A hold means that although we 've received your check for deposit, you wo n't be able to use the funds until the hold period has expired. Depending on the type of check that you deposit, funds may not be available until the third business day after the day of your deposit. However, the first $200.00 of your check deposits will be available on the first business day after the date of your deposit.
from losses that could occur when a deposited item is returned unpaid. Situations that typically cause a check to be held include : -There is reason to believe the funds may be uncollectible-The source of the check ( e.g., foreign checks ) -The account is a new account ( new account rules apply for the first 30 days the account is open ) -The account has repeated overdrafts in the last 6 months-You deposit checks totaling more than $5000.00 on any one day-Fraud is suspected-The check was previously deposited, then returned unpaid-The check was not properly endorsedAs a - year old, making her way through the tough economy that is -, I never had much money in my bank account, and if First Hawaiian Bank checks their records they 'll find that previous to this transaction my account had been over drafted several times before. At the time I deposited that fraudulent check, i only had about $3.00. I will not pay for the negligence of First Hawaiian Bank, I should have been protected under these policies that are stated so clearly on their website for everyone to see. A hold should have been put on my account. Never had I deposited a check that big before into my account, that should have been a red flag in itself.
