Non-federal student loan Disclosure verification of debt not given enough info to verify debt
Citibank Debt collection department,
Non-federal student loan Disclosure verification of debt Not given enough info to verify debt California
I went into default on my private students loans when I was given misinformation from the original debt holder of all my student loans, Citibank. I spoke to a Citibank representative during a period of time that I was filing Chapter - bankruptcy and was told to hold off on all my student loan payment until the bankruptcy was completed. My loan payment included both federal and non-federal loans so that information was correct for my federal loans that transitioned back into repayment without any problems, but incorrect for my non-federal private loans that were sent into default. I did not receive any notice about the default until it was already sent to collection agencies. Once I was aware of the misinformation and resulting default I started to pay - - - , -, and - - - -, that took over my non-federal loans. I was making monthly money order payments to the collection agencies for over two years, however they did not provide me with receipts of payments. When I requested proof of receipt of payments, - - - , - gave me proof, but - - - , - did not provide me with any information. Since I was not sure they were receiving my money order payments I stopped making the monthly payments since I did not know for sure they were being received and credited properly. - - -, -, did not contact me for six months instead they transferred my debt to - and -, -. The new collection company is now calling and sending me notices demanding payment. Furthermore, they have added unexplained additional charges added to my original debt.
