JPMorgan Chase Credit card department,
Overview : A hotel overcharged me in a foreign currency. They later reimbursed me, but due to the change in the exchange rate I ended up paying more. Details : Recently I booked a hotel online via the hotel 's site. The hotel accidentally overcharged me. The agreed upon cost was -, they charged my credit card - - ( they misplaced a decimal ). My credit card converted this charged in to USD, so this amount ended up being about $4900.00 USD. The hotel acknowledged their mistake and reimbursed me for the overcharge in - ( - - ). They credited my card $4300.00 USD. If the hotel had charged me the correct amount to begin with, the charge on my credit card would have been $490.00 -. Because of a change in the conversion rate, I am now paying about $ -USD ( $94.00 more than I would have if they had not made this mistake ). The hotel mistakenly charged me - times the agreed upon amount. Chase is saying that as the consumer, I am responsible for paying the conversion rate difference. I should not be held responsible for the mistake of the merchant.
