I have - student loans with Chase. The monthly payment was around $500.00. I made a lump sum payment on - of the loans. I did not request that my monthly deduction/payment be reduced. Chase automatically reduced my monthly deduction/payment from my checking account without my consent and I ( and may be others ) are now having to bear a higher interest cost as a result. The servicer will not increase my amount back up without submitting a signed request. Seems unfair that the reduction in paying towards principal happens automatically but restoring it back to the higher amount so that more is paid against the principal is harder.
