Credit monitoring or identity protection Account terms and changes Georgia
I would like to put a freeze on my - year old 's SS #, but the current methods make this unbearably difficult. As I understand it, I have to physically send copies of his birth certificate, SS card, and various other forms of ID for him and me, to each of the - credit bureaus to first find out if there is currently any fraudulent activity on his account. Then, once I receive these in the mail, I have to go through the same process again with all the same attachments, to place the freeze for all - agencies. Luckily I live in GA, and I understand there is no fee for a freeze in my state for children under -, but I am amazed that other states charge, ( per agency? ) for this service. I would like to think that our government could help to protect our children by making the credit freeze process easier for parents to initiate. Even to go as far as to have a simple check box on the SS application form for an infant to request an initial freeze on the account until a child reaches - years of age.
