I visited a Wells Fargo located at - - - - in -, NJ on -/-/15. I went inside to make a withdrawal from my checking account. The teller that assisted me was named -.In processing the transaction - advised me that my savings account was closed.I informed her that I knew and that the account was closed because it was initially opened by a branch manager without my permission. - then persisted that I needed to reopen the savings account to avoid the $ - monthly maintenance fee. I told her I was avoiding the fee already by participating in a different activity which also allows me to avoid paying the fee. She told me that the fee is only waived if my checking account is linked to a savings account and simply said we can reopen that for you today it 's no problem ''. I told her I would think about it, took my withdrawal and left. The information - gave me was completely inaccurate and misleading and was simply an attempt to get a sale ''. I may not have looked like it because I was dressed in shopping gear, but I work for a bank myself and I know a little about deceptive practices that some individuals use to meet their sales goals. If I did not have inside knowledge, I may have once again fallen victim to these deceptive practices.
