Wells Fargo Bank account or service department,

Checking account Using a debit or ATM card Texas

Today, -/-/-, I attempted to use my Wells Fargo debit card at a - grocery store located in -, Texas. I had successfully used my card about a hour before at - located in the same strip mall. In an attempt to pay for my groceries, I swiped my debit card. I was told the transaction was not authorized. Despite the fact, I had well over the amount in the account ( even after the previous - purchase ). The check out person suggested that I try again, which I did. - again, the transaction would not authorize. So, I used a debit card from another bank, which did go through. When I called Wells Fargo, to inquire what happened, their explanation was that they were concerned that I had been to - previous to using my card at -. So, without a text to my cell or a call, they blocked my card. In response, I explained how I was at check out with a cart full of groceries, not knowing why the card was blocked. The Wells Fargo rep again, just repeated that it was because I had shopped at - previous. Is this something that they do

identification info! The credit card is not linked to the debit card 's checking account. It is an entirely separate account. She asked for this info even after I gave her the identification info regarding the debit card account, as well as the last - digits of my social security number. Should I assume that for some reason I was deemed a person of suspicion? How do I know if and when my card will be subjectively blocked? I understand Wells Fargo, like many banks, take fraud related measures to protect accounts, but if Wells Fargo wish for its customers not to shop at - using their debit card, they need to make a public statement. Otherwise, they position themselves as having final say as to where I can spend MY money. I would really appreciate an explanation as to their reasoning and if this type of action is within their legal rights.
