I received a call from a man whom phoned my place of work and told me that I would be served court papers at my job and wanted to know if I will be onsite between the hours of - and - the next day and wanted to confirm my workplace address. The initial caller did not disclose the nature of the case but said that it was a civil case against me on behalf of - - -. He provided me their contact number - - ) and case ID # and asked that I give the law firm a call to find out the details of my case. The caller ID registered - -. '' I initially thought this was a legal matter related to my job so I phoned my manager and my manager contacted my company legal department. Upon hearing back from my manager I was told that my company legal department contacted - - -, and the case was


anonymous '' at my place of work within an hour of receiving the - call. The woman said her name was - - calling on behalf of - - -. She said that I owed $ 28K on a Citibank credit card with a principal balance of $ 12K and that her company was going to take me to court if I did n't settle the account as soon as possible. She said they could offer me a settlement deal due to financial hardships if I was willing to settle the debt today or pay what I owed or they will contact my company to take the money directly from me. I told - - that I did not want to receive calls at my place of work and - - began yelling and telling me to pay my debt or - - - legally have the right to go through my job to get the money I owed and they legally have the right to contact me at my job because of the large amount of money I owed. - - then asked me to provide them with a cell phone or alternative number in exchange for the work calls to stop. I refused and - - continued to rant threatening legal action. I told her I would call - - -. back and - - commanded me to call her back in an hour and ended the call. I then received a - call about 1.5 to 2 hours later from a woman from - and - stating her name was - -, but same voice as previous call. The caller ID registered anonymous. '' - - yelled at me and told me that I did not call her back in an hour like I promised. I told - - that I did not want to receive calls at my place of business and that she is harassing me. - - continued to yell and threaten to contact my company to have money taken from my check and given to her client. '' She continued to yell at me stating that - - - had the legal right to contact me at my job. - - was informed that I was ending the call and I hung up the phone on her while she was yelling and issuing threats to take me to court and contact my company to garnish my wages. I have never given - - - my work number and never made direct contact with this firm prior to the day they called my place of employment. I have also never received any written communication from - - - and I have not received any calls or correspondence from Citibank in at least five years prior to receiving these harassing calls from - - -.
