I asked for an itemized statement from the school showing what I owe. On the receipt was over - - in collection and late fees.The man I spoke to from ERS said I had 30 days to pay or it would be marked on my credit. I asked if there was a way to lower the amount due because i did not know i had the over due balance and would have happily paid the amount due before the charges, he said they could settle with the school, and it 's usually 85 %. After constant harassment in the form of multiple phones calls at odd hours of the day, they offered me a settlement deal of $410.00 and was told to secured the deal by giving them my bank account number so they can do a direct draft of $ 50 monthly. I agreed to the settlement but rather opted to pay them with a cheque and also promised to pay the rest of the settlement as soon as my income tax refund is received.
