On -/-/-, I received a notice from ProCollect stating that they were contacting me about an alleged debt that I had with -. I immediately responded to the notice in writing, officially contesting that I had a balance owed to this community. I also requested the following items from ProCollect to verify the alleged debt : A copy of the original lease, signed by me, a copy of the entire pay history of the account, and also a detailed explanation of the charges that constitute the $1400.00 alleged debt they are trying to collect. I did not receive any response from ProCollect with the requested documents. Today, I noticed that ProCollect has placed this item on my credit report. By placing this account on my credit report without verifying the debt ( as requested ), they are violating my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
