Credit reporting company's investigation Problem with statement of dispute Florida
I have an illegal online lender reporting a several year old charge off on my TransUnion report. I have disputed the validity of this item as many as 10 times in the past two years and each time I never receive any information from TRU except " Account Verified ''. I have asked repeatedly for the means of verification and the details that were verified only to be told that this is TRU internal information only and can not be shared. With each dispute, I have received a letter from the information furnisher acknowledging the request for debt validation, but never anything actually validating it. After speaking with a supervisor at TRU following my last dispute on -/-/2017 ( which was closed within days as " validated '' ), I contacted the original creditor ( information furnisher ) in writing demanding validation of the debt including all pertinent information they are reporting. I received a letter a few weeks later that stated " We are unable to validate this debt. '' I again contacted TRU with this information and was told to fax them the letter which I did. I was told by TRU that it would take up to
to respond. After being transferred to a supervisor and demanding to know what additional proof they needed and what exactly they are validating, I learned that this is the exact same electronic request they have allegedly sent close to 10 times previously that does not require any evidence or any kind of real validation other than a YES/NO reply. I asked why they were doing this knowing that they had sent the exact request multiples times already and since they had a letter in their possession from the creditor that plainly states validation is n't possible. Unbelievably, TRU 's answer was that they " need to ask the creditor if they agree with the contents of the letter. '' This is a letter that THEY WROTE! In exasperation, I asked one final time, what proof I needed to provide that would at long last remove this item and I was told that they could not tell me that as it is internal information. It is obvious that TRU has not validated this debt as they claim as the creditor themselves stated in writing that it is n't possible. TRUs unwillingness to accurately verify the items they report, and their refusal to remove reporting of items that have been proven invalid is a clear violation of, and willful non-compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
