As a victim of identity theft, I disputed various items on my credit report in -, including -. The investigation returned with no changes. I contacted - regarding the account on my credit report, and was sent documentation verifying the account was a - balance, and closed since - 2016 by having been sold to -. I had opened the - account right before leaving to serve my mission for my grandmother to always have money for groceries and food ; the information on the account was stolen or changed as well - including my name and the address I had on the account. The initial dispute and investigation returned no changes and the account information was not updated, including the high balance and the open status. - provided me with the information that was sent to each of the credit reporting agencies in - and - - clearly indicating that the account was sold and had a - balance, and verified that it was never requested by TransUnion as part of the dispute. TransUnion did not properly request, update or use the information. My grandmother indicated she never used the account ; I have tried multiple times to obtain the statements from - and - to see where the balances came from and what they were - but since the accounts are both - balance and now closed, it is n't vital.
