Citibank Credit card department,
On the internet I searched for " IRS EIN Number ''. A site came up appearing to be the IRS. With my CitiCard issued by Citibank, fooled by the site, I paid what I believed to be a customary fee of $140.00 to the IRS. The next day realizing that the legitimate IRS provided EIN numbers free of charge I emailed the merchant informing I was rejecting his service. In fact I never opened the merchant 's email presumably providing me an EIN number. I informed Citicard of the above via phone and in writing. Citicard via their dispute process ruled against me. Attached find the dispute ruling ( 1 page ) and the documentation ( 8 pages ) submitted to Citibank upon which Citibank ruled the dispute.
