Costco Wholesales in - - offered a Credit Card with - -. I had the credit card for years without any problem. Costco decided to change their agreement to a Citi Card and to send a new credit card over mail. I received the letter that they were changing to Citi and I had no interest into using the new Citi Card provided by Citibank, so I cut the new card ( broke it ) and throw it to the trash. As the card said : " Call - - to activate your card '', and I had no interest into activating that card, I never called for activation and I never used it. I expected the obvious to happen : that having no activation in the card ; No One was authorized to charge anything to that account ; I never authorized it 's use! It 's my credit and only I am entitled to authorize its use! Surprisingly, Costco charged it 's annual fee to that account, and instead of Citi telling Costco that there is no active account because I never authorized the use of that account, Citi is making me liable for such fee plus their charges! - So convenient for them to charge fees on an account that I did n't even know it was unfairly and abusively activated. So I complained to them, they said they close everything, and now I just received another letter that after their investigation, they are reopening the account and charging me. Can you help me understand my rights? I believe this is at least unfair, deceptive and abusive. If I never activated such credit card, how am I supposed to be expecting to pay them any bills?
