Around - -, I noticed a fraudulent charge on my credit card for an online purchase at Best Buy. I immediately contacted Citi to dispute the charge which they approved as fraud. A day later a package arrived at my house addressed to someone else from Best Buy. I called Citi back to report that the alleged package arrive to ask them for direction on next steps. They informed me that they could not tell me what to do with the package so its at my discretion but that they had approved my dispute and the money will be credited back. I decided to return the phone to Best Buy. I explained to the customer service rep the situation and told them I needed to just give them the phone back and he said they could n't do that but they would have to issue a credit. I tried explaining that Citi had already given me a credit but he said it must be processed as a return anyway. I have also requested from Best Buy and Citi the IP address of where the item was purchased to provide to the police which I have not received from either company.
wanted to given some leeway as now I owe $ 900+ which I viewed as a statement credit at the time and was never informed that this could happen especially not after almost 3 months. I am extremely frustrated that Citi did not set the expectation of their policies on the front end nor was anything at any point communicated to me. I am a loyal customer who pays my bill in full every month, now I will endure a financial hardship for something I did not create. Once the credit from Citi was not corrected within a month, I reallocated my budgeted money. I asked Citi if there was anything they could do for me because of unexpected charge and now my responsibility to pay for it which will cause a financial hardship this month. I was only offered a $75.00 statement credit for my time.
