I recently applied for a Citi Bank credit card through -. I was approved by Citi Bank and told I would receive the card with activation instructions within 7-10 days. I attempted, unsuccessfully, to activate the card by using a Citi Bank internet activation site. I tried to activate the card by telephone using a Citi Bank toll free number. When I reach this latter site I was bombarded with a continuous stream of " special offers '' all of which I declined. I stopped declining after - ( - ) streaming " special offers ''. Citi Bank 's phone activation site would not allow me access to what I wanted to do. I was so taken back by their brazen manipulation that I decided to not activate the card. Citi Bank sent me a welcoming email two days later. I replied to the email requesting immediate cancellation. They responded that they could n't respond to my cancellation request and that I would have to use a statement to do this. I do not trust Citi Bank 's process and I want to receive a clear instruction as to how to cancel this card. Again, I did not activate this card, I do n't want it, and I do n't want it on my record.
