In -, a thief opened a fraudulent MACYS/DSNB account ( - ) in my name. I identified the issue on -/-/-, by running a credit check on myself and noticing a credit inquiry from MACYS/-, and then calling Macy 's directly to confirm an account was opened. Upon speaking to a representative in Macy 's fraud department, I notified them the account was opened fraudulently. The representative indicated that the account would be marked as fraud. A Police Report with the - Police ( - ) was filed, in addition to an FTC Identify Theft Report ( - ). On -/-/-, Macys sent me a letter thanking me for my inquiry, and asked to complete an identity theft form, in addition to providing one form of identification. The form was completed and supporting information provided immediately. On -/-/-, MACYS/DSNB notified Credit Reporting Agencies that I was delinquent on payments associated to my account. These delinquent payment statements are now showing up on at least - ( - ) of the - CRA reports. In accordance to the Federal Trade Commission 's " Notice to Furnisher of


Upon speaking to a supervisor ( -, Employee ID - ) within Macy 's Fraud Department on -/-/-, Macy 's has internally marked the account as fraudulent, but not formally closed the investigation. The employee indicated it will take up to 90 days for Macys to close the investigation. This employee also told me that reporting information to the CRAs was following their standard procedures and was unable to help me at this time. In summary, MACYS/DSNB is negatively impacting my standing with CRAs. They are also out of compliance with the responsibilities defined in the FTC 's Notice to Furnishers of Information in the following ways : - Providing CRAs inaccurate information after consumer notified them of identity theft - Not completing an investigation within 30 days
