Citibank Credit card department,
My husband injured himself and needed to interrupt our trip overseas. We came home early in order to get proper medical care. We put in a request with Citibank Mastercard Benefits Program several months ago, and were assigned a case number of -. We were told our claim would be handled by the - We provided doctor 's notes, trip itinerary change information, and other expenses. No one ever got back to us. I called several times and ws told I needed to provide a physician 's note, which they already had. Now they claim that they only provide trip interruption insurance if the person was unable to TRAVEL ( even to fly back to place of origin. ) My husband was able to fly home, but not able to continue the trip. That is what I deem trip INTERRUPTION. I believe the wording in their Benefits Brochure is deliberately obscure. How can one INTERRUPT a trip and still stay overseas? They then would have claimed that our trip was not interrupted or cancelled. [ If a person got sick on a boat and was evacuated home, he was able to travel for medical care, but not continue his trip. Would he be denied INTERRUPTION insurance? How could he have both stayed on the cruise, and not stayed on the cruise at the same time!?! ] I would like them to honor the intent that any reasonable person would believe- trip INTERRUPTION means a trip that was interrupted due to a medical inability to continue that trip.
