Synchrony Financial Credit card department,
I have a Chevron/Synchrony Bank credit card. I had auto-pay set up to pay the minimum each month, so that I would n't be late on any payments. -/-/2016, I closed the bank account which used to make payments. I logged into my Synchrony account, and updated my payment information to my current bank account, and paid the existing balance on the account, which cleared my bank on -/-/2016. Today, I received a letter from Synchrony Bank notifying me that they were closing my account due to " a number of dishonored payments. '' I called Synchrony Bank, and they told me that they had tried to make the minimum monthly auto-payments from my old bank account, but that they were returned. These returned payments began -/-/2016. This is the first notification I have received from them regarding any dishonored payments. I was not notified that there was a problem. If I had known this when it first started, I would have taken care of it immediately. I am not really concerned with continuing to use my Chevron credit card. But I am concerned with how this closed account will affect my credit score.
