Citibank Credit card department,
Hi. I 'm a young guy and have - credit cards, using them responsibly to build a good credit history. I have never missed a payment, and always pay in full. But, I 've since realized that one company, CitiBank, has been manipulating my balance by not applying cash rewards through statement credit as a valid payment. For example, if my statement is $100.00 dollars, and I pay $90.00 through a payment and $10.00 from a statement credit cash back reward, they do NOT count my statement as paid in full. That means at the end of the month I get charged interest on the entire $100.00 because they chose not apply the statement credit as a legitimate payment. There is nothing that clearly states this when using the statement credit ; the terminology and wording is abstract and not specific. Besides this being a practice that should be outlawed anyway - as it 's clearly an attempt to squeeze interest charges out of card-holders.
