Experian Credit reporting department,
Improper use of my credit report Report improperly shared by CRC California
I applied for a home equity line of credit with a local bank. As part of the normal application process, the bank obtained my credit report. The next day I started being bombarded by phone calls and emails from other lenders, who already knew that I was attempting a mortgage transaction. One of them let slip that they got this information from Experian. Essentially, Experian sold not only my personal info, but specific details of my financial activity, in real time, to other lenders ( competitors, in fact, to the bank that paid Experian for my credit history ). This is not simply a " pre-approval opt-out '' issue, this is a violation of privacy.
