Unsolicited issuance of credit card

Citibank Credit card department,

Unsolicited issuance of credit card Utah

I had an - - credit card with Costco. In -/-/2016 Costco switched its card program to being offered by Citibank. At that time I had a $140.00 balance on my - - card. When I went to pay off that amount online, in -/-/-, I found that I could no longer access that account. I opened an account with Citi to continue my patronage of Costco. I was unable to figure out where my - - account went. When trying to contact Citibank I could n't get past their automated phones without providing an account number. In -/-/-, I finally received a statement from Citibank letting me know that my account is 5 months without a payment and that it has been sent to collections. At that point the statement had the last - digits of the elusive account on it, and I was able to successfully call and address my account. At that point I explained my story to the customer service lady and paid the $140.00 balance that carried over from my -. She told me that she would take care of all of the late fees and interest that had accrued, and that I did n't

there were no further late payment issues. I talked to Citibank about being able to dispute the account so that it would n't affect my credit, but the customer service rep said that Citibank ca n't do that and it is automatic. I also checked to try to find the reason Citibank did n't contact me for so long, and the email address they had on file was n't any of the email addresses that I own. Apparently it was just a collection of symbols that - gave them for my email address, which is interesting because I had opted out of paper statements with -, and email was my primary form of communication with them. Apparently either - or Citibank had a database issue when transferring my info.
