Citibank Credit card department,
I called to cancel my Citi Forward credit card -/-/-, having submitted a - - - payment to pay the account balance. I spoke to a customer service rep who confirmed cancellation of the account. I was so certain that my account had been canceled that I then proceeded to cut up my credit card ( having closed the account ). I did not hear about any issues from Citibank whatsoever. I did not receive emails saying there were any issues. Two months later, I get a few robocalls and see my credit score has dropped dramatically, because there is this phantom account that I thought I had closed. It turns out it was open and the bank payment had n't gone through. I had not been told this and thought it had already been paid and closed.
that is past due. I spoke on the phone today and spent 2 hours on the phone with - and - ( presumably Citi will see record of our conversation ). They could not do anything to remove the delinquent record. This is fraudulent. Keeping someone 's account open when they thought it was closed is a huge cause for concern and brings to question the fraudulent practices recently at - -. Is Citi operating in the same vein? I will not hesitate to pursue this further.
