Citibank Credit card department,
On -/-/- I received a letter from -, Client Liaison from Citibank. He called me in -/-/- asking me questions re : the closed checking account plus ending in -.The payments to this account with the account number written on them were applied to the closed credit card account. He was interrogating me asking redundant questions saying the accounts were separate and why did I collapse both accounts in my complaint. Yet he " never '' addressed my question as to how the checking account payments were applied to the credit card. In his letter - reiterated a statement by another client lisison a -, " the account number written in the memo field is not bank information that we use to apply payment and it 's only purpose is that of a " memo '' for the clients use ''. This statement is insane! As all of us are aware consumers either have a carbon copy of the written check or a check register to record who the check was written to. I have attached a -/-/- letter from Citi disputing - and - ludicrous statement. As I stated previously Citi is retaliating against me for involving my former Congressmen 's office ( now Senator ) to help me.
