Citibank Credit card department,
Citi sent me a new credit card offer in the mail, addressed to me, for - - miles for signing up for a new platinum credit card if I spent $3000.00 in the first 3 months. I have previously had a similar card that I 'd closed and I assumed they were offering this to get me back as a customer, so I applied and was approved. I then spent over $3000.00 in 2 months, meeting their requirement. Then after waiting a few months without the miles showing in my account, I called them. They said that I was disqualified before they even sent the mailer to me because I 'd had a similar card within the past 24 months. So they sent me the offer, knowing that I did not qualify!! It 's false advertising to send me a directed mailer with a promotion that I do n't qualify for, then approve me for the product without any notification that the promotion is not valid for me. I was led to believe by the directed mailer and the card approval, that I qualified for the offer. I do n't have a problem with the fine print, per se, but
would be reviewed and I may get the miles granted still, and I would get a letter with the result. So, I waited for the result of the review and instead, received a worthless restatement of their policy : " Thank you for contacting our Customer Service Team. Bonus Reward Rebates are n't available when an existing account in the same product has been opened or closed within 24 months. If you have any questions or are in need of further assistance, please call '' This practice is at the very least, deceptive.
