I was disputing the information on my credit report without success. So as a compromise, I contacted Fifth Third Bank to settle the debt as paid and full if they deleted it from my credit report completely. The representative I spoke with agreed to settle and delete the account for $280.00. I wrote a check for the agreed amount along with a letter detailing our conversation. They received and cashed the check but did not report it correctly to the credit bureaus.
