Citibank Credit Card Complaint

Sale of account

Citibank Credit card department,

Sale of account Washington

My wife and I have been - and - - account members for a long time. We were notified last year that - - was no longer going to be - 's credit card company and that we would be issued new accounts. We contacted and closed the account with - -. Apparently at some point Citibank created a credit card account without our permission, - charged that account for a membership fee ( $50.00 ) and in 3 months Citibank assessed $70.00 in late fees on the account. Now after an attempt to reason with the Citibank they have sent a letter by someone named - - in their Security Department stating because the account was " transfered '' from - - not " created '' by Citibank we are responsible for it. - - states in the email this issue is closed, Citibank will no longer to respond to the complaint, and Citibank will continue sending statements until it is paid in full. - - does not provide contact information to reach out to him, and never have I been allowed to speak to anyone higher level than a customer service representative. I would like to know if Citibank is doing what - - has been doing and if there are others that are being extorted.
