I opened a 12 month-no interest loan for items with - through Wells Fargo Bank on -/-/-. No interest monthly amount is $240.00. On - or there about, I made a telephone payment including a a late fee totaling $260.00. Today while looking at my statement I noticed that my new balance is $910.00. -/-/- should have been the 12th and final payment. The customer rep, after much time on hold, informed me that when I made my payment via telephone in -/-/-, that I gave them the wrong checking account number at that time. Since I was never notified that the wrong checking account number was submitted ( whether by them or me ), I had no idea a payment was not made until today when I spoke to the account rep, who also told me that Wells Fargo in not legally obligated to tell me that the payment method was in error ( until today in explaining how they can charge me over $600.00 additional interest in addition to the - payment, if I were to pay the account in full ). Interest will now continue to accrue. Additionally, the statement is and has always been sent with a minimum amount due of $100.00, with no mention of the $240.00 no interest payment, with the exception on my payment made the previous month in that amount, interest amounts and charges, etc. i.e. the statement is extremely confusing. My complaint is that Wells Fargo should have notified me immediately that the payment was entered in error when made by telephone. This leaves only two scenarios by Wells Fargo. 1. Intentionally holding the fact that my checking account number did not go through and payment was not made. Or 2. Not giving this information to me regarding the incorrect checking account number for payment until I asked seven months later when/until I asked.
