Amex Credit card department,
Dear CFPB, American Express sent me an offer to apply for the Business Rewards Gold card via my online banking bill pay screen. The offer was for - membership rewards points for signing up for the card and spending $5000.00 in 3 months. I pulled up the application today -/-/2016, as the offer expires -/-/2016 and I wanted to apply for the card before it expires. The offer showed the terms and conditions, and I read through them. There was nothing that denoted I would be ineligible for the card. I called to apply for the card but was told by the American Express membership rewards department agent, -, that I was in fact ineligible. She apologized but cited terms and conditions that were not listed in the original offer that I had received.
An offer that is mailed from AME- to the consumer should include all terms and conditions. AME- was apparently withholding the full terms and conditions. I feel that I have been mislead as a consumer, and that my time has been wasted. I had been planning on apply for this card all month, and now that I went to do so I was unable to proceed. I feel I deserve to be eligible for this card. AME- needs to allow me to sign up for the card and receive the bonus, and this was the offer they originally sent me.
