Bank of the West Bank account or service department,
Checking account Account opening, closing, or management Nevada
I recently received a letter in the mail regarding a past due balance of $100.00 from a collection agency, -, as stated in the attached letter. On -/-/2016, I called Bank of the West and spoke with -, a service banker located at - -, NV -. Per -, my account was closed in -/-/2016 and was re-opened on -/-/2016, by Bank of the West, due to an automatic bill pay service that attempted to withdraw funds. She stated this bill pay service was not paid by my account with Bank of the West but the re-opened account was charged an NSF fee. Bank of the West re-opened my account without my permission and/or notifying me and is charging me a monthly maintenance fee and NSF fee for an attempted payment. - mentioned this is a common practice for a bank to re-open an account once it has been closed and will not drop the charges. I am still unaware as to how I can be held responsible for charges made on an account that should not exist.
