Wells Fargo & Company Credit card department,
Application processing delay New York
to whom it may concern, hello, I opened a credit card account with Wells Fargo Bank back in - 2015. It was a secured one. I provided them with all necessary information ( addresses, phone numbers, immig. status etc ). There was a $25.00 annual fee and they told me my account could be upgraded to an unsecured ( in a period from 6 to 18 months ) if I use the card responsibly and keep a good payment history, which I did. Never missed a payment, kept low balances and had had my score grow up significantly. A year passed, I heard nothing. A year and a half - nothing. They just kept charging annual fees. I decided to give them a call, they submitted a request for card upgrade and told me to wait for the response ( by mail ) which I never received. I did the same a month later - and still nobody got back to me with the answer. In all further telephone conversations they simply said they were not able to do anything to get the status of my request.
Although I am about to get permanent resident card myself in about eight months, I do not think this discriminatory policy sounds like the one for American institutions. And of course, this is not to mention the fact that they consider it right to let people know about it after the people have been fooled with false promises for almost two years. And in the end, this is what my options are now : first is to let them sit and continue getting money from me and from thousands of other people by promising their cards would be upgraded ; the other is to close the account which is going to have a serious impact on my credit score and history.
