I applied for a credit card from Citi 's website, the - -. On the website when I applied, it stated that I needed to spend $1000.00 in the first four months to get the - bonus points. When I satisfied this condition, I did n't receive any bonus points and when I asked them why they claimed I signed up for a card that only paid out a bonus when $2000.00 of spending was hit. - Had I been told at any point after I applied that I signed up for a card with a $2000.00 target, I could have accommodated that, but nowhere in my card member agreement or welcome letter or email did it mention that I needed to spend $2000.00. My complaint is that Citi is doing a bad job of informing customers of how much they have to spend to hit sign up bonuses after they apply for the card. This is probably so they can have as few variations of letters/emails as possible, but it feels like a bait and switch - I thought I had to spend $1000.00 to get a bonus and nowhere did Citi say otherwise until six months later when I messaged them and asked where my bonus was.
