Credit monitoring or identity protection receiving unwanted marketing/advertising
Equifax Credit reporting department,
Credit monitoring or identity protection Receiving unwanted marketing/advertising California
I received a prescreened credit card offer from - - for which I am not eligible. Their offer said to call - to stop receiving prescreened offers so I called the number, which represents all - credit bureaus, and the automated system asked for inappropriate information such as social security number, date of birth, home phone number, etc. Consumers are continuously warned not to give out these identifiers because of privacy and identity theft concerns so I hung up. Why are credit card companies asking for this information just to opt out of a prescreened offer? A better way is to change the system to an opt in system so that consumers are not burdened with having to opt out of the numerous sales offers they receive. My complaint is that credit card companies should not be allowed to ask for those private personal identifiers that are used for identity theft. This practice must be stopped.
