Amex Credit card department,
On -/-/16, a sales rep from American Express came into my store and presented me with an offer of a credit card. Since my business very much depends on the - season, I told him that the only card that would work for me would be one I could pay out monthly. He assured me that the card I would get would be what I needed. I got the card and proceeded to spend $10000.00 on merchandise for my store. When the bill came, I noticed that the total amount was due, with no option for a minimum payment. I called the rep and he said, " Just call them and they will fix it, they do it all the time ''. So I did. Unfortunately, they did not fix it and told me they could not fix it or transfer my balance to a card that would be better suited for my business ; that a monthly payment was not an option for the card I had and too bad for me. Amex would not let me make payments online or with a check ; they insisted I give them my checking account number so they could take the
from my account ( which I did not have ). At that point, I spoke with a supervisor and she put my account on hold until -, at which time I will have to pay close to $5000.00 more ( I have already paid $6000.00 ). I was lied to by the sales rep, even though he knew I would not be able to pay the bill until -. I have not been able to pay my - rent because of this deception and my landlord wants his money, too. I am afraid that if my - sales are not what I expect, I will be evicted from the -. I would never have gotten the Amex card had I known the stress it would cause.
