I 'm a victim of identity theft and recently called Equifax 's customer service and requested an identity block of negative information on my credit report that was due to identity theft. I requested a supervisor and she told me that " We do n't do that at Equifax, we do n't block information and only the creditor can request that ''. I know this is not true so I am registering a complaint for failure to block information that has been asserted to have resulted from potential identity theft, and for which I have filed a police report and thus complied with the provisions of section 605B. I relented and told her that this was a violation but she said the only thing they could do was dispute the items and do an investigation. But I 've disputed around a dozen times and there has been no progress or REAL investigation done. This is the reason I filed the police report in the first place. I have done everything required to fulfill my obligation to request this block, and their refusal is in clear, and willful violation of FCRA 605B. To verify what I am saying, I am enclosing a copy of my Identity Theft affadavit filed with the FTC, a copy of the police report, and proof of my identity that I have already sent Equifax. Any support from you would be greatly appreciated.
