I went to Macy 's Department Store to purchase sunglasses. I rarely go to Macy 's and I did n't have my Macy 's card so the cashier looked up account by asking for my social security number, if I recall correctly. I was able to make the purchase and also some cosmetics. I made payments using my - - Bill Pay. Later I recieved a bill with multiple fees and was recieving multiple calls urging me to contact them regarding my account. When I called they said my payment went to the wrong payee, my Macy 's card, and they would arrange to credit the payment to the new American Express account. I told them I never applied for a Macy 's American Express card, and realized the cashier must have opened the account.


I requested the original purchase details and amounts and questioned the balance, after fees were reversed, minus my payments. The representative agreed to correct the balance due amount to reflect the amount I calculated. I decided to pay off this balance in full and resolved not to shop at Macy 's because I do not trust their billing practices. I continued to recieve calls and billing statements. I called to clarify my bill, stating that I paid it in full. The customer service person reassured me that my account was indeed paid in full. Still I continue to recieve multiple calls per day from 'Macy 's ', and statements that show mysterious fees and 'purchases '. I do not want to call again because I am afraid it 's a scam. Should I go to a Macy 's store to speak with a manager? I think they may just refer me to the electronic or phone billing department, which is not trustworthy, in my opinion. Also I need to address the fact that they opened an American Express credit card without my knowledge. They sent me the card after the fact. I have not used this card, but keep it to resolve what I believed was a purchase on my Macy 's card for the original purchase of sunglasses and cosmetics only. Kindly help me resolve this problem with mysterious fees and charges mounting on this Macy 's American Express account. I can provide amounts and dates if requested. I have a file with the bills and notes on phone conversations.
