Care Credit/Synchrony Financial opened a new, additional Care Credit account without my knowledge or consent. Synchrony claims to have mailed " opt-out '' instructions for new MasterCard accounts, which I have never received. My existing account is still active, and now there is a second, separate account that has been created which I had no previous knowledge of. Upon contacting Synchrony Financial/Care Credit to ask why an additional account was opened using my information without my knowledge or consent I was informed that they believe they are legally allowed to do so because of their " terms & conditions '', even though I have never given permission for a brand new account to be opened. I stated multiple times that I had never consented to a new credit account being opened and was told it was " temporarily open '' and that there was nothing I could do about it. When I stated that I never received any communications regarding a new account being opened and did not want the new account, and that I had never legally consented to any new Care Credit accounts to be opened in my name I was told that my only option was to " not activate the new card '' and that they would continue reporting the new account to the credit bureaus for the next 120 days. When I stated they should not be reporting - open accounts to the credit bureaus because I only had - authorized open account with them and have explicitly informed them that the - account was opened without my knowledge or consent I was told to " dispute it with the credit bureaus. '' No attempt was made at resolving the fraudulent account or the impact it will have on my credit.
