My truck was totaled due to a vehicle fire and the insurance company paid the finance company for the truck. The next day after receiving the insurance check, they sent the remaining balance of $400.00 to the collection agencyou which essentially hit my credit. They did so without informing me of the balance or giving me the opportunity to pay the balance.
