Wells Fargo & Company Credit card department,
Closing/Cancelling account Maryland
I received an email from Wells Fargo on - -, 2016 that my overdraft protection Credit Card needs to be activated by - -, 2016 else my overdraft protection will be lost. As I solely use this card for overdraft protection, I never activate it and shred it immediately when I receive it. I called Wells Fargo customer service to try and deal with this issue, and explained to the representative that the card is not stolen/lost. The representative then said he needs my full Social Security number ( which was suspicious ), but I provided, and then he said your new account/card will be mailed to you within -7 business days and immediately hung up. I did not request a new account, and did not give this Wells Fargo representative permission to open a new account, but it appears he did anyways. I am filing a formal complaint with Wells Fargo themselves, but want this type of behavior to stop and would like to file a complaint with the CFPB.
