Wells Fargo & Company Credit card department,
As A Wells Fargo customer for 25 years, I was sent information for a pre-approved Wells Fargo Rewards Credit Card. So, I applied and was accepted. I wanted to take advantage of the benefits and consolidate some debt. I had the account for a few months, awaiting a decision on which other credit cards would be in my best interest to consolidate. I, then, received a letter from Wells Fargo stating they closed my account. I called customer service and the representative explained it was due to inactivity. I explained that I only had the account for a few months, but the decision was policy. I asked to speak to a supervisor and received the exact same answer, so because I have a good relationship with the bankers at my local branch, I decided to speak to them.
When I arrived, we called the - number, as I had done before, and the answers were still the same. So, the end result is : 1. Wells Fargo closed my account due to inactivity. When asked what the criteria or time-line was for closing an account, the representative stated their were many reasons for closing an account at anytime, but could not produce - reason. 2. By closing my account, this will affect my credit negatively, when I did nothing to warrant either my account to be closed or my credit to be affected. 3. The representative said I could always re-apply, thus running a credit report and affecting my credit. I was already approved, Why should I have to re-apply? What gives Wells Fargo the right to negatively impact my credit, when I have been in compliance? 4. Upon investigating my options from competitive banks, I will be withdrawing my funds immediately from Wells Fargo. After 25 years of service and commitment, I expect the same from my bank. The ONLY remedy I will expect from Wells Fargo is to re-activate my Wells Fargo Rewards Credit Card with a letter of apology and commitment to excellence to me and their customer base.
