I had an - card with Costco which I rarely used and had a - balance. Costco then shared my confidential, private, credit and contact information without my consent and signed me up without my acceptance or agreement for a " Citi Anywhere Visa Card '' and then mailed me the card. I never activated the card and did not plan to accept the new account. I therefore did n't pay any attention to the mailings from Citi for several months as I did not activate the card nor did I use the card. After several months, I opened a mailing to find that it was a statement and that they had charged my Costco membership fee to the card as well as adding late fees and interest for not paying. We have contacted Costco and Citi several times to try to resolve this, including cancelling our Costco membership over the issue. The Costco membership fee has been refunded and the card closed. Citi has agreed multiple times over the last few months to remove the late fees and interest and - out the balance. However, they have failed to do so and instead are still sending monthly statements, the
and the customer service specialist AGAIN agreed to remove the charges and - out the balance. I just checked again today and the balance of $100.00 remains on this account. I have very good credit and I now fear that I will be reported for late payment or unpaid balances to the credit bureau, negatively affecting my credit. For a card that I never agreed to get and charges that I never agreed to have charged to a credit card that I did not activate. Based on the fraudulent activity of Citi, Costco, violations of my privacy, and the ongoing lies of Citi employees, I have investigated online to find that I am one of many Costco customers dealing with this same issue. This leads me to believe that Citi has no intention of making this right without further action. Their behavior is despicable.
