Citibank Credit card department,
On -/-/2016 I received an email offer from My Best Buy VISA Card that stated " Get a $5.00 Reward Certificate for Every 5 Swipes when you shop with your My Best By VISA Card outside of Best Buy. Offer expires -/-/2016. '' The fine print stated " Receive - bonus points per transaction. Bonus points will post to your loyalty account 3-4 weeks after qualifying purchases have been made. Limit - bonus points per account ... '' Essentially, I was to receive - bonus points per transaction and - points equals $5.00 in rewards. With a limit of - bonus points, that means that a limit of - transactions would receive - bonus points each. I made - transactions from the period that I received this email offer through -/-/2016, so I should have received the maximum - bonus points. I never received any bonus points so I sent a secure message online through the card 's website advising them of the issue on -/-/2016. They replied back on -/-/2016 that they were " unable to properly respond to my request '' and provided the phone number -. I called the phone number on -/-/2016. The person I spoke
and provided me with case # -. I asked when and how I would hear back and get my bonus points. He stated they would email me within one week. It is now -/-/2016 and I still have n't heard anything nor have I received the bonus points. I tried calling the number back to follow up on the status but I was transferred and put on hold for over 20 minutes without anyone who was able to understand what the case number was referring and, eventually, I was transferred to Best Buy customer service ( for the actual store ) which has nothing to do with the credit card offers. At this point I hung up and decided to file this complaint. It 's apparent that they never had any intention of fulfilling this offer and are using exhaustive customer service practices to frustrate me as a customer to give up. I feel as though this is a UDAAP violation in that they are emailing advertisements to encourage customers to use their card while not providing the bonuses promised in the advertisements. If I had spent the money on another card, I would have received 2 % cash back, however, at this time I have received nothing. I am looking for the $50.00 in rewards that I was promised and some compensation for the hours spent online and on the phone trying to resolve the issue.
