Equifax Credit reporting department,
Incorrect information on credit report Account status Colorado
-/-/- I made arrangements with - that I would make smaller monthly payments due to financial strain and could not make the enormous monthly payments that they requested but I would make my payments, on time every month ( which I did ). I was surprised to learn that - turned my account over to a collection agency ( - - ) who demanded the balance be paid in full. I spoke with a representative from - and she stated I could make monthly payments which I did. I was later notified by - that the balance needed to be paid in full or it would reflect negative on my credit report. I sent a check for the remaining balance and the account was closed in late -/-/-. I recently checked my credit report and discovered that my credit rating dropped from the - 's down to -. I do n't understand why this account was ever turned over to a collection agency when I was making monthly payments on time. I am requesting that this be investigated and removed from my credit report. The status on the collection charge shows ... Status- " Paid, closed ''. Why am I being punished for an account that was being paid ( on time ) and now reflects my credit report as " negative ''?
