Wells Fargo & Company Bank account or service department,
Checking account Using a debit or ATM card Pennsylvania
Approximately - 2016, fraudulent activities transpired on my accounts with Wells Fargo through automatic tellers machines ( ATMs ). Since I am unemployed and no longer in school, there are no frequent activities made by me such as deposits, withdrawals, transfers etc. On - -, I was notified by my mother that I received an email from Wells Fargo stating my online log-in information ( ID and password ) had been changed. On - -, I was again notified that Wells Fargo forwarded another email stating a HOLD was placed on my account. Upon returning home later that next week, on - -, I received a letter stating fraudulent checks in the amount of $4000.00 had been deposited and charged to my account. Amazingly, this account has never ever held that amount of moneys. I could not imagine any institution paying out that amount. I was a college student and had recently graduated. I called and after being transferred several times, spoke with -. I filed a claim and stated I should hear something withing 5 business days. On - -, I received four separate letters ; each contained a copy of a fraudulent check. On - -, I forwarded
the communication with -. She replied 'no '. Upon asking the status of the account, she responded, " The amount of $4000.00 has been recovered. There is a negative balance of $2.00. There was a physical withdrawal in the amount of $300.00 that needs to be satisfied and you as the account holder is responsible. '' It was then that I stated, " why? '' She emphatically stated that " you had to give your card and PIN to someone. '' No, I did not. - ( Wells Fargo Rep ) refuted my " no ''. My mother listening informed her that she was giving out fraudulent information ; bank cards are skimmed every day. Apparently, that was the case. I had been 'skimmed '. I research information and Identity Theft Expert, - - proved it to be the case and recommended that customers access ATMs at banks only. Again, I informed - from - - that on - - and - -, I received two emails and Wells Fargo should have been aware that my account had been compromised. The history on the account had never showed frequent deposits of any sort.
