I had a checking account with Bank of the West prior to -/-/2013. I overdrafted the account and was charged nearly - $ in daily overdraft fees before the funds in my savings account were applied to cover the original amount overdrafted. The account went to collections with The - - - with a balance of - $ owed in -/-/2013. I disputed the account and - reported the account as closed to - for meeting FCRA requirements for a dispute, but still lists the account open and in collections with -. I reached out to - and inquired when they would report to - that the account was closed pursuant to my dispute. The agent advised me that she does not know why the account was closed with - and repeatedly interrupted me to tell me I needed to pay the account. I advised her the account was disputed and closed and I would not make a payment until she could explain why it was closed with one bureau but not the other. The agent advised me that she did not know and it was a mistake and that all she knew was that I had to pay the account. I again asked why the account was closed with one bureau but not the other and she transferred me to a voicemail for someone else. I left my contact information and even called an hour later and was again dumped in a voicemail. I have never received a returned call from this company to explain their discrepancy in reporting to the credit bureaus. They refuse to explain why I need to pay this account that is closed, they refuse to accurately report to the bureaus, and they continue to aggressively attempt to collect this debt.
