Citibank Credit card department,
I was charged in error for items I never received and it took the company ( Sears ) several months to resolve and refund this charge. I took out a Sears card to purchase a washer/dryer that they never delivered/installed. I have a different mailing address than my residence ( safety concerns ) and I received the bill slightly late as I was not expecting one at all. I called Sears Citi Card immediately, and they told me I needed to take my concern to Sears, that the entities were entirely separate. I was not informed at this time that unless I contested the charge within 60 days of the first statement, I would owe late fees and interest. I was not told that this is the reason that they denied my request to remove the late fees, but I can think of no other reason. I struggled with Sears customer service repeatedly and was told they could do nothing. Finally I emailed the Sears executive office, they managed to discern that I was charged completely in error and refunded the charges. However, Citi Card informed me that I still owed the late fees. I circled back to Sears and once again was told they could do nothing. I purchased nothing, I wanted the card cancelled the moment I requested a refund, however was told that it could not be cancelled until all of the charges were cleared off. I have been dealing with this issue for 5 months now. It has been an unwelcome demand on my time and attention at a time when I have just moved and started a new job. It feels like I have to work very hard just to watch out for being victimized. These " late fees '' for no purchases, no activity, seems predatory.
