Citibank Credit card department,
I had completed a balance transfer with sears credit card last year which expires - -, 2016. I then was offered a couple deferred payment purchase offers in the last couple of months. I am trying to pay off the balance of the expiring balance transfer with no luck. Since the last statement I have made approximately about $1000.00 of purchases which still has n't closed yet, and have made excess payments in order to pay down balance transfer for - -. Now my overrall balance is $100.00 over the total promotional balance offer total, so none of the excess payment money is being allocated to the promotional balances. I contacted sears and they told me it goes to higher interest rates first, but if that 's the case why is n't those balances getting lower instead of saying the same. I also thought that in the last two months credit card companies were required to apply the excess payments to the expiring balance transfer first. The other question is why the regular purchases being taken off when the statement has n't even closed yet, to allow the 25 days or so of free interest. I believe I 'm getting - around here.
